Ashok Leyland, the flagship brand of Hinduja Group, which deals in the bus and truck business in India, Ashok Leyland got a big order in UAE. Giving information, the company said that on Wednesday, they received an order for 1,400 school buses in the UAE, which is the company’s largest order to date in the UAE. School buses are to be delivered by the company in the Gulf country. The order for the GCC manufactured buses have been placed in Chennai by Ashok Leyland’s UAE Distribution Partner, Swaidan Trading – Al Naboodah Group. Most of the buses will be delivered to Emirates Transport and STS Group, a company statement said. However, the value of the order was not revealed.
Order will be delivered from the UAE facility
The world’s fourth-largest bus maker also said that the 55-seater Falcon bus and 32-seater Oyster bus – will be delivered from Ashok Leyland’s manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The facility is the only certified local bus facility in the entire Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) area.
Made in UAE buses
Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman, Ashok Leyland said that this is a historic moment for the company in the UAE. He said that this is a testament to the reliability, durability, and robustness of our buses and reaffirms the belief of our customers that our buses are the safest for the transport of school students. These products are made in the assembly plant in UAE. Their concepts are made there. Our engineers assemble them in a factory in the UAE itself. Hinduja said it would be appropriate to call it Emirati Bus – Made in UAE for the GCC.
We will also launch electric vehicles
The Ras Al Khaimah plant is a joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority and has a capacity of 4,000 buses a year. Since its launch in 2008, Ashok Leyland has so far delivered 25,500 buses from the plant which also exports buses to African countries.
